Bay Avenue in business bay has got a new addition to their much appraised eateries, and I’m sure Café Funkie town will do their best to be in that list. The restaurant is conveniently located in bay avenue and they are having ample car parking space, hence parking won’t be an issue at anytime. Visited this place for lunch on a Saturday. The staff welcomed us whole heartedly!
We tried out their famous Mango lassi – it was way too yummy ..absolutely loved this one! This drink is a must try on your next visit here!
Below were the dishes which were served for us
I can come here anytime, just to have their Bun Maska (8dhs), a Bombay style, hot toasted and lavishly buttered bun, literally dripping, tasty on its own or to munch, dipping into tea, which was served along with Kheema Pav (34 dhs) , Minced mutton in a green gravy dish, served with their famous Parsi bread –Perfect combo
And for the veggies out there , you can have Paneer Bhurji (32 dhs), spicy scramble of cottage cheese, onion, tomatoes, green chillies , garnished with fresh coriander leaves and served with pan toast and if you love more buttery version, then go for bun maska
Akuri Pav (32 dhs)The all-time classic egg burji ,is a spicy scramble of freshly cracked eggs, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, chillies, garnished with coriander and served with their special bun maska or pan toast.
For Quick Light Bites, we had gun powder wedges( 20dhs) ,which was not much Crunchy and was little spicy too
Bhindi Crispy fry (20 dhs) was Crunchy enough in taste, since it was deep fried, but flavour was not so appealing
For the main course, we had Sali Boti Chicken (36 dhs)Tender pieces of chicken cooked with ginger-garlic, onions, tomatoes, a dash of yogurt and mild spices. Sali aka potato crisps were sprinkled on top of the gravy and it was more appealing
And the second main course we had was Dhansak Mutton(50 dhs) which is quite famous Parsi delicacy, mutton and lentil potpourri served with fragrant basmati rice cooked in caramelized sugar to give the brown color. It was too much in brown colour ,because of caramalised onions and sugar I guess and I couldn’t literally find any meat piece also
Chicken Farcha (32 dhs) A Parsi celebratory dish on occasions, this has boneless pieces of chicken legs fried in their famous Parsi batter. Mildly spiced and very flavourful one, this absolutely was the show stopper for me.It’s kinda Parsi alternative to KFC
Veg Berry Pulao (32 dhs) The famous pulao made with fragrant barberries and cashew nuts.
Lagan Nu Custard (22 dhs)-They say No Parsi wedding menu is complete without this iconic, utterly delicious custard dish . Now I will have to attend a parsi wedding to get convinced though.
it’s a Fussion of Crème Caramel and Cremme Brullee ,with a distinct flavor of nutmeg and cardamom.
And last but not the least, how about having a cutting chai, right after a heavy and spicy lunch..Ohh , 100 times yes for the chai.. Not to mention chai was served piping hot and strong, totally desi style. Comes in 3 flavors Ginger, Elaichi or Masala -AED 7
The staff was very helpful and friendly – they made sure we left with happy faces! The place has those pure desi interiors with bollywood songs playing in the background, definitely makes you feel like in India! Prices are very affordable and they also have a business combo lunch for AED 30 -40 dhs range, so if you are ever in Business Bay are around lunch time then head to Café Funkie Town to enjoy their tasty food at great value!
