I was over the moon, when I received the invitation to review Mitts and Trays, which is located in City Walk, new extension.City walk is a vibrant place , opposite to Dubai Downtown area and adjacent to Jumeira Beach Road and hence making City Walk a very happening place to be .
Being in such a trendy place , Mitts and trays appealed their entrance with a cozy lounge nook with quirky lightings and creepers falling from ceilings, which gives you a pleasant feeling seeing the bit of greenery .Their interiors were too fascinating with contemporary touch with high ceilings and rose gold light fittings .Mitts and Truly is truly a modern , chic and vibrant place to be . We were welcomed by Ms.Raechel who was very pleasing and an energetic lady who directed us to our table.
Once we were settled in our table ,Mr.John, our server explained the menu which was continental mainly and some fusions dishes from around the world .He elaborated each dish in the menu and helped us to chose the best sellers from their menu
We opted one passion fruit mint and ginger ale and one mango and orange cooler as our thirst quenchers. The punch of passion fruit, ginger and mint was mixed at the right amount and all the three flavours were equally delightful. The mango orange cooler was just another drink and didn’t feel any speciality in it . The only thing , I didn’t like was the glassware which they served the mocktails which were very normal and was not photogenic enough..:)
Moving on to our starters, we ordered M&T Batata Bravas and Wagyu Sizzlers. Batata Bravas is basically potato drizzled with hot demi glaze, cheese and sour cream topped with scallions and Jalapeno slices. It was a bit spicy because of Jalapenos and the dish seemed to heavy for two pac
And Wagyu Sizzlers!!!….there is no proper words to describe the feeling of having it and I’m still drooling hearing the name itself. The wagyu lollipos were served in front of you in a lava grilled pan on a bed of potato puree and gravy was poured to the pan …lollipops were very juicy and the potato puree was equally creamy and yumminess in this dish was truly overflowing.
The complimentary Milk bread served with Basil butter was a great accompany with most of the dishes served.
We had Kale and Walnut Salad too to detoxify our system .As you know ,of all the super healthy greens, Kale is the King and keeping that in mind I wiped off the greens ,which swooned us with a healthy twist, since it consist of baby kale , aragula, maple candles walnuts, dried cranberries, crumbled feta cheese drizzled with balsamic fig dressing..I’m sure you want to try it too..;)
Among the sandwiches we tried their signature dish- M&T sliders , which is southern style chicken sliders with chipotle mayo and crispy onion rings .Eventhough it was written sliders, sliders were large enough to call as burgers itself, atleast to me .
From the Mains, we ordered jerky spiced lamb chops , which was served with mint jelly ( but not very sweet kind) in a grilled pear half . Since I’m a great fan of Jamaican cuisine, the name Jerky automatically draws me to order the same and this dish didn’t fail me either. Lamb chops was very tender and are cut thick to ensure juiciness and literally bursts in your mouth .
And now it’s time for desserts, my favourite part of the meal . I asked them their best seller and recommended us ‘MINI WEED’ (yassh..You heard it right, its weedJ )It’s a chocolate sponge with digestive butter cream topped with swiss meringue and truly is a art of work encased in milk chocolate ganache. It’s just worth the calories…!!!
Since my friend was not very fond of chocolate we ordered one Saffron Tres les too and its kind of a happily ever after dessert. It’s a cardamom sponge with saffron infused cream frosting generously topped with a decadent variety of pistachios with intense flavour of saffron. This dessert seems like made from scratch using premium ingredients, just like Mom’s kind of dessert.
